SWEEPS PROCESSING

Burning
Burning is the preliminary process for polishings, dust, sweeps, and carpets. To properly burn these materials, the temperature range must be controlled to 500°F to 900°F.

Crushing
The next step is crushing or pulverizing the materials not ready for the smelter. These materials are crushed using special crushers with steel balls that assist in the process.

Sifting
Sifting is the third step. After crushing, the sweeps processed through our sifter to remove oversized material. Different sized screens are used, and as the sifter vibrates, the materials fall through.

Blending
To ensure a proper sweeps sample for analysis, we use a special process to mix the "fines" extracted from our sifter. Once all steps are taken, the material is then assayed.
